On Holiday...

We are livin it up in sunny (HOT) San Diego right now. Although it's hot, this is my favorite time of year here. I have many childhood memories of the months on June for these reasons: School was out, Official month of Summer, which meant we were at the beach surfing and laying out almost everyday, Del Mar Fair opened every June, Evening Padre games..... I miss all these things! I'll be re-living and reminicsing while I'm here :)

Happy Father's Day Tyler!!

I just need to aknowledge my sweet husband on Father's Day because he truly is a super dad! I am so greatful that Preston has such an awesome Daddy! You are so tender and nurturing not only to Preston but to me aswell. You're such a wonderful example to him. I love watching you two interact and play together. I love how you spend so much time with Preston and allow him so much freedom to explore and try new things. I love how you wrestle and how you make him laugh and giggle. And even though it breaks my heart everytime, I love how when you leave for work Preston cries because it shows how much he loves his Daddy and wants to be with him. Preston admires you so much and I think it's fare to say that you are his best friend (next to Tanner, of course). I'm grateful for all the help you give to me when taking care of our boy. You've assumed that role and I don't ever have to ask you to do anything so THANK YOU... We make a good team babe. I love our little family!! Thank you for the security and beautiful home you have provided us. I know you work so hard and I'm so proud of all you've accomplished. You are so special to us and we love you very much.

Making Some Major Diet Changes...

I am turning over a new leaf and changing my diet/life! I started last wednesday and am happy to say that I have not touched any kind of refined sugar, artificial sweetner or white flour (which turns to sugar). I took a Holistic Health class and ever since my awareness of health and nutrition has heightened. Let me tell you! Changing my diet has changed my life! I have SO MUCH energy! I feel happier! (If you can't tell by all the exclamation points!!!!) And I'm more "regular"... thought you'd like to know ;) PLUS! I've converted to Kangen water (Alkaline water- If you want to learn more about this, check out the sites I've posted under "AWARENESS") I've been trying for the past year to consistantly drink Alkaline water but it's kinda hard seen as I don't have my own Kangen water machine yet. Tyler has sort of started following my new routine not by personal choice he's mostly following along (because I'm the only one who cooks!) I'm going to start posting my recipes. Some I've made up and others I've copied. This past week I've mostly been eating veggies, fruits, seeds, plain yogurt, whole grains, lentils, other beans, yummy smoothies (recipe below), and a little chicken and cheese. I know I've posted Vegan and raw sites on my 'Awareness' link list but I'm No Vegan! I can't live without my sour cream, yogurt, whip cream, cheese, etc... But these sites have some yummy recipes. Eating raw food makes me feel like I'm doing something right! No longer does my body need to defend itself against me and my bad food habbits. Come on, who'll join me! anyone....?

"HOT PINK DRINK"
(seriously, so good!)

I don't usually measure but this is apx how much I use:

1 Beet (med size- 3" diameter)...doesn't really matter how big.
1/2 Can Coconut milk (with NO added sweetners)
1 Carrot Stick (The big kind, not the baby carrots)
6 Strawberries (or more! the more the merrier!)
5-6 Dates
1/2 tsp Vanilla
1 Tbsp *Agave (or to your desired sweetness)
1-2 Full glass of ice

2-3 servings... Store extra in fridge. Tastes great later.

I peel a raw beet and chop it up so it purees easier cuz they're really hard raw. Than I add the coconut milk and puree together until chunks are gone (In blender). Then I add the other ingredients (in no particular order, except the ice goes in last). Note: Unless you have an awesome blender, the dates will remain in tiny chunks.

Disclaimer: Don't be alarmed if this stuff is the same color pink when it "exits" the body! I should change the name of this shake to "Intestinal Sweeper Surprise"!!

*You can buy "Agave nectar" (natural sweetner) at Good Earth. Or you can use "Stevia" (A natural herbal sweetner). I like agave cuz I use it in my hot cereals and anything else that calls for sugar aka life sucking granules. Let me know if you make this shake and love it as much as I do!
